Industry Landscape

Boston: a city full of talent and ideas, where inspiration abounds and the dream of creativity as a path to self expression, personal enrichment, community building and economic prosperity is alive and well.

Everyone knows about Boston's important institutions, such as the Museum of Fine Arts and Berklee College of Music. Many of our performance spaces are themselves works of art, such as the Opera House and the Cutler Majestic Theatre. Our public art events, like Shakespeare on the Common and ethnic festivals all across the city, draw thousands of people each year.

The creative economy is crucial to the economic, social and cultural vitality of cities and regions. Boston's creative industries are among the fastest growing sectors in the Boston. Several of Boston's renowned universities offer art degrees and other training programs, educating young creatives who will be part of tomorrow's workforce.

Boston offers opportunities in a plethora of sub-industries of the creative economy, such as: Advertising, Applied Arts, Broadcasting, Heritage, Film, Video, Photography, Performing Arts, Publishing & Printing, Sound & Recording, Support Services, Independent Arts.

Workforce Training Workforce Development - Through our Jobs and Community Services program, the BRA offers focused training opportunities for tomorrow's workforce. Recently, the city took the lead in dedicating a quarter of a million dollars to developing green workforce capacity.
