Mike Bowes
Co-director, Central Productions; Co-founder, Alliance for Independent Motion Media
Mike Bowes is a multiple award winning filmmaker and television producer. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he studied Communications and was President of its film society. At UMass, Mike wrote and directed three short films, one of which, a documentary entitled "Northampton State Hospital", won an honorable mention at the Five College Film Festival, consisting of a film stock award from Kodak. In addition, he has done a variety of production work for non-fiction programming and documentaries at WGBY-TV in Springfield, MA; and has produced segments for the WGBH Auction. Mike is the co-founder and co-director of Central Productions, Inc., a nonprofit film arts and production company based in Cambridge, MA. He completed "Tuesday", a short subject narrative 16mm film which he wrote, directed, and edited in 2000; and has produced three award winning films - "Freebox," “Splatter Day Saints,” and “The Fines” each directed by Shandor Garrison. Mike is also co-founder of the Alliance for Independent Motion Media – a strategic alliance of Boston area film production support organizations.
