Spearheaded by the Office of Mayor Thomas Menino, in collaboration with non-profit, corporate and community partners, the Coalition
provides low- and moderate-income taxpayers with free financial services. Its mission is to reduce poverty in the city of Boston by: (1) maximizing the
impact of the EITC through free community based electronic tax preparation and education; (2) providing low-income taxpayers with strategies to build
personal and community wealth; (3) advocating for fair and equitable tax law policies that benefit working families.
From January to April, 25 community-based tax sites hosted by Coalition partners provide free tax preparation and asset building services to eligible households.
Services and programs are provided in 7 languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Somali, and Cape Verdean Creole. Additionally, the
Coalition is committed to full inclusion for taxpayers with disabilities.
