Volunteer Opportunites

Join the three hundred tax preparers who worked at Coalition sites during the 2010 tax season!

All sites need:

Tax Preparers: After receiving training and becoming an IRS-certified VITA volunteer, prepare basic tax returns for Boston residents at one of 25 neighborhood sites. Contact Brian Robinson, at brian.robinson.jcs@cityofboston.gov for more information.

Intake Screeners: Manage the flow of the tax site by handing out forms, answering basic questions, and directing taxpayers to the next available tax preparer. For more information, contact Brian Robinson at brian.robinson.jcs@cityofboston.gov, or call 617.918.5220.

Some sites need:

Credit Advisors: Assist taxpayers in accessing and analyzing their credit reports. For more information, contact Jessica Cook, who manages our Credit Advising Program, at jessica.cook.jcs@cityofboston.gov, or call 617.918.5360.

Financial Coaches: Offer financial coaching to Strengthen Your Financial Future program participants around five key areas: credit advising, budgeting, banking information, benefits screening, and referral assistance. For more information on volunteer coach trainings, or to receive an application to volunteer, contact Jessica Cook at jessica.cook.jcs@cityofboston.gov, or call 617.918.5360.
