Boston Cares volunteer platform to better serve volunteers, offering ease of use, event announcements and much more. To join in the effort to alleviate poverty our EITC volunteers

Tax Preparer: Help Boston residents file their taxes! After receiving training and becoming IRS/VITA certified, volunteer tax prepares do basic returns at 25 sites throughout Boston. Tax Preparers are required to attend a 2-part, 12 hour (6 hours per part) training, and are to invest 24 hours of service in total throughout the January-April 2013 tax season. Financial Guide: As a Financial Guide volunteer, you will help to provide a holistic site intake experience for our clients. Learn how to offer benefits screenings, credit
advising, and screen taxpayers for eligibility for free tax preparation. Volunteers will analyze taxpayer credit reports and help them develop a strategy for improving the
taxpayer's credit score. Financial guides are required to attend a 2-part, 6 hour (3 hours per part) training, and are to invest 4 hours of service per week throughout the January-April 2013 tax season.
FAFSA Coach: As a FAFSA Coach you will assist taxpayers in filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and provide key information to clients on next steps needed to achieve enrollment. FAFSA volunteers will be needed at Allston Brighton APAC, Codman Square Tech Center, Dorchester House and Roxbury Resource. FAFSA coaches are required to attend a 1-part, 3 hour training, and are to invest 4 hours of service per week throughout the January-April 2013 tax season.
