May 28, 2014

photo-(2).jpgSal Di Stefano, Industrial and Commercial Sector Senior Manager for the BRA, was a featured speaker at the Canadian Urban Manufacturing Summit in Hamilton, Ontario Canada in May.

Di Stefano was invited to speak to manufacturers, economic development agency representatives, elected officials, and others from around the world about the Back Streets Boston program and its strategy in supporting the industrial sector in Boston, specifically in Newmarket. "We were excited that Sal accepted our invitation to speak to our audience about Boston's success in attracting and retaining industrial businesses in the City," said Terrence Sooley, President of Ideal Engine, the conference organizer.

During his presentation Sal shared samples from a Hyde Park caramel manufacturer, McCrea's, who are trying to break into the Canadian candy market.

"It was a successful trip," said Di Stefano. "Not only did I have an opportunity to represent Boston, but I learned from other economic development professionals new strategies and ways to support our Industrial and Commercial Sector.  I walked away with a lot of ideas and strategies I hope to implement in the near future."
