First Greenway Ramp Parcel Study Meeting Recap

Jun 27, 2014

Last night over 45 stakeholders gathered at the BRA for the first public meeting regarding the Greenway Ramp Parcel Study. The objective of the study is to determine the most appropriate surface treatment for three exposed highway ramp parcels on the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway: Parcels 6, 18, and 12.

At the meeting, BRA Staff, MassDOT staff, and members of the BRA's consultant team presented an overview of the planning context, the environmental commitment to cover the ramps, relevant zoning, and the history of each parcel. Meeting attendees included North End, Downtown, and West End residents; several local officials; and representatives from the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway Conservancy.

The Greenway Ramp Parcel Study is the last major planning initiative related to the Greenway, which opened in 2008. Project staff plan to consult the past several years of physical and programmatic successes along the Greenway, along with community input, to inform the best options for the ramps.

Over the summer, the consultant team will dig further into background materials related to the parcels. The next public meeting will be held in late September.

More information about the project can be found at the Greenway Ramp Parcel Study planning page.
