Providing Case Management and Support Services for Smoother Transitions Back into the Community:
Returning home can be challenging for adjudicated young people. The lure of the streets is constant. Through Youth Options Unlimited, youth have a support network, adult mentors, and activities to engage them and keep them on track. Assistance with getting their documentation for work, obtaining driver's permits, enrolling in substance abuse treatment groups, and referrals for housing or childcare assistance are some of the supports offered. Youth work with their Y.O. Unlimited Case Manager to build an Individual Service Plan which is the roadmap for their future success.
Since Y.O. Unlimited collaborates with a network of agencies and other service providers in the city, we work hard to make sure we reach out to and work with all the adults who are involved in the lives of our young people. Parents, social workers, DYS case workers, probation officers and youth services officers working together with Y.O. Unlimited case managers provide a strong safety net to ensure young people get on and stay on a positive path and make informed choices in their lives.
Connecting with Youth During Detention:
Y.O. Unlimited contacts youth while they are in detention or incarcerated. Young people are also referred from our law enforcement partners at the Boston Police Department, the Department of Juvenile Probation, the Department of Youth Services, the Suffolk County House of Correction. This first-step intervention sets the stage for young people to develop a strong, trusting relationship with YOU staff. We work with youth to identify their challenges and begin to develop a plan for the future.
