Synchronized Sailing This Summer in the Fort Point Channel

Jun 09, 2010

A fleet of 23-ft Sonar sailboats will cruise the Fort Point Channel basin in front of the Boston Children's Museum and InterContinental Boston this summer on June, 8, 9, 10 & 24th from 11:30a.m. to 1:30p.m. This exhibition is the result of a collaborative partnership between two nonprofit organizations, Piers Park Sailing Center and Friends of Fort Point Channel. The Synchronized Sailing exhibit is an implementation of the  Fort Point Channel Watersheet Activation Plan, a waterfront planning initiative created in 2002 by the Boston Redevelopment Authority and Fort Point abutters, residents, nonprofit and business leaders.
The Watersheet Activation Plan represents a dynamic vision of recreation, cultural activity and diverse year-round programming, sponsored and managed by Friends of Fort Point Channel. Piers Park Sailing Center is an East Boston nonprofit organization, whose mission is to use Boston Harbor and the seas beyond to provide year-round recreational and educational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, particularly serving at-risk youth and people with disabilities. Piers Park sail boats will be cruising the Fort Point Channel basin on four different occasions in the month of June, exhibiting simultaneously with various waterfront events; including the 6th Annual Taste of Fort Point Channel and Free Museum Day at the Boston Children’s Museum
