Dudley Square Municipal Center Retail Tenant RFP Released

Dec 13, 2013

The City of Boston released an RFP today for the individual lease of six separate retail spaces at the Dudley Square Municipal Center. The building, which is currently under construction, involves the refurbishment of the historic Ferdinand's Furniture building facade, and the construction of a facility to house the newly consolidated Boston Public School offices. Over 18,000 square feet of street-level retail space is available at the corners of the building, with nearly 8,000 square feet suitable for a destination restaurant, and 10,000 square feet subdividable for retail uses. The RFP package describes in greater detail the leasing opportunities, retail spaces, lease terms and proposal submission, evaluation requirements, and selection processes.

The construction of the $115 million Dudley Square Municipal Center is part of The Dudley Vision Project, a City-funded initiative launched by Mayor Menino in 2007 with the goal of enhancing the Dudley Square retail district by focusing on real estate, economic development, and community engagement. In addition to space for street-level retail businesses, the Dudley Square Municipal Center will house academic and administrative offices of the Boston Public School Department. In June 2013 Mayor Menino celebrated a topping off at the site. The project is slated to open in fall 2014.
